Montecurto

This fragment of a male stele statue was found in 1980 in a farmyard at the village of Montecurto (Fivizzano , MS ) .  It belongs to group C ( D.175) and could date back to the Iron Age , between the VIII and the VI cen. b.C. . It is part of the body and shows the collar-bone in relief that curves downwards and the arms bent at the elbows at different angles .  There are two parallel lines on the arm that could represent a bracelet or armlet ; a long-handled axe with a square blade is set upright against the right hand and the middle of the chest ; there is a javelin resting against the left hand .
The fragment is kept at the Pontremoli Museum .
